Byron Harris
I am the founder and head of Harris Plus Health Ltd, a company dedicated to providing trauma-informed, pluralistic counselling services. With my advanced diploma in psychotherapeutic counselling and a focus on trauma-informed practices, my approach to counselling is centred around the individual, not their problems.
At the same time, I am committed to ongoing personal and professional development and evidence-based practice. Pluralistic counselling, to me, is a multi-tool kit approach to therapy. Just like a handyman has a variety of tools at their disposal to tackle any task, I have a range of techniques and strategies to address my client’s unique needs and concerns. Each client is unique and may require a different combination of tools to achieve their goals, so I use my expertise to select the most appropriate tools for each client, creating a tailored and personalized approach to therapy.

Hypnotherapy in Chippenham – Penny Finnegan
Do you feel a bit stuck sometimes and struggle to make positive changes in your life? Perhaps you suffer with stress, or anxiety and it’s holding you back? Or, you struggle with poor quality sleep which leaves you feeling drained and unable to cope? Maybe you want to improve your performance in a certain area, have an unwanted habit you’d like to change, or would like to overcome a fear, or phobia?
Our minds are a powerful resource, which if given free rein and not exercised in the right way, may become more of a hindrance to our wellbeing, than a help. I am passionate about educating people about how they can use their mind as a force for good, helping people to make positive changes in their lives and free their minds from the unhelpful thinking habits that have been getting in their way. I do this by using cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy (CBH), leaving you free to achieve more of what you want (or less of what you don’t want) and live a happier life, in which you feel more in control.
I will create a bespoke programme for you, using a range of evidence based techniques that can help with:
- Stress & anxiety
- Low mood
- Procrastination
- Insomnia
- Unhelpful habits
- Menopausal symptoms
- Pain management
- Low self-esteem and assertiveness
- Focus and performance

What is Cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy?
Cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy (CBH) is an effective, goal-focused form of hypnotherapy that can help to manage and overcome individual problems and challenges by changing the way we think, feel and behave, in a more positive way. It is essentially the integration of hypnosis with modern social, cognitive and behavioural psychology and benefits from a strong evidence base to support its use in the treatment of certain conditions, such as feelings of stress or anxiety, as well as to help manage certain physical ailments.
What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis can be described as an active process of focused attention on a particular idea, or suggestion (typically guided by the therapist) where you become so absorbed in something imagined that your body responds as if it’s actually happening, thereby increasing receptivity to therapeutic change work.
Therapeutic hypnosis creates a context where you can use your imagination to evoke positive emotions, rehearse behaviour change and absorb new ideas and new possibilities more easily. It creates a means to learn alternative ways of thinking about things, as well as to discover resources within you that you had forgotten, or didn’t know you had. The suggestions delivered in hypnosis are a means of experiencing certain helpful ideas at a level profound enough to directly influence your emotions and behaviour, at a therapeutic level. It is empowering and gives people a sense of control over their experience. And contrary to popular belief, it hasn’t nothing to do the therapist controlling your mind!
