We are very happy to announce that we now offer dry needling in Chippenham at CK Clinic with level 4 Sports Massage Therapist, Cydney.
Dry Needling is similar to acupuncture where a fine needle is inserted into a muscle to provoke a muscle stimulation. The fine filament needles used in dry needling are the same ones we use in CK Clinic for acupuncture. Whereas acupuncture follows a channel theory based on meridian lines throughout the body, dry needling is more focused on targeting muscular trigger points in the area and using a strong stimulation to get the muscle to release. Dry needling is sometimes known as trigger point therapy. Whereas acupuncture is based on traditional Chinese medicine, dry needling is more recent being developed in the 1980’s. By inserting the needle into the tight muscle it creates a response which releases the trigger point and restores normal function. Dry needling is great for reducing pain, increasing blood flow to the muscle and decreasing the muscle tightness. Not only does dry needling reduce the local pain but also helps to reduce the referred pain too caused by the trigger point (often patients have headaches due to trigger points in their shoulders/trapezius). Initial assessment including treatment (45 minutes) is £50 and then follow up treatment sessions (30 minutes) are £40.
